Council forced to save on fuel as Sheriff removes all TCM’s vehicles
Three vehicles have thus far been removed from the municipality.

LYDENBURG – TCM’s vehicles are again being attached and removed by the Sheriff of the Court.
This comes after council is said to owe one single creditor more than R9 million.
The Sheriff, Mr Elias Mohlahla, arrived at TCM just before 11:00 today with a warrant for the attachment of not one, but all of the vehicles of the municipality.
As Mohlahla delivered the summons, one of the officials ran off with the keys of one of the Isuzu bakkies, apparently claiming that his department head first had to be informed of the removal. Mohlahla followed him in and told him that they had no choice but to hand over the keys. While officials and Mohlahla were still bickering about the removal, Francis Towing was instructed to bring their low-bed to remove the vehicle.
The bakkie was towed away shortly after. Mohlahla said he would be doing rounds in town attaching and removing any TCM vehicle he spotted in town.

The municipal manager, Mr Surprise Maebela, told the newspaper that there was some confusion regarding the situation. “We were in court today because of this judgement. We are surprised that they are here today to attach and remove. We can’t, however, fight the Sheriff. When we looked at the judgement, there are two different case numbers. The case number that our lawyer has differs from the one of the Sheriff. Its fine, however, we will get our bakkies before the end of the day. Somehow they changed their date and came today instead of tomorrow because they knew that we would defend whatever they served us with. We will give you more details either later today or early tomorrow morning.”
