Guests also stand a chance to win a date with Hencoe, a makeover by Lee-Anne Dippenaar and Magdaleen Botes, a weekend's stay for two at Umhbaba Lodge in Hazyview, and another weekend stay for two at Baobab Lodge
BURGERSFORT – Hencoe Beukes, a teacher at Laerskool Burgersfort and resident of Tubatse who is also a Mr SA semi-finalist, hosted a charity event at Thaba Moshate Hotel Casino and Convention Resort last Saturday.
Guests were entertained by Henri Alant of Pretoria, Vasti of Mbombela and the group Glen Shoun of Jerusalem, located between White River and Hazyview. The night included an auction where all the funds were donated to the Feed a Child and Smile foundations.
Feed a Child aims to eradicate poverty in a sustainable manner and to take God’s hope to the nations. It currently impacts the lives of approximately 10 000 people on a regular basis. The organisation has many projects and is currently delivering more than 2 000 000 meals annually to kids throughout South Africa. It is estimated that almost 10 per cent of the South African population are children living below the poverty line and in circumstances beyond their control.
The Smile Foundation is a South African non-governmental organisation with a holistic health-care vision for children with facial conditions. The foundation, with the country’s academic hospitals, work together to put a smile back onto our children’s faces with free corrective facial-reconstructive surgery and treatments.
Guests also stand a chance to win a date with Hencoe, a makeover by Lee-Anne Dippenaar and Magdaleen Botes, a weekend’s stay for two at Umhbaba Lodge in Hazyview, and another weekend stay for two at Baobab Lodge.
“I met Hencoe during the Miss and Mr Lowveld competition in Mbombela. He is always friendly and very driven and determined to win the competition. I wish him all the best,” said Vasti.
Henri said he met Hencoe the first time at the Mr SA finals in 2014. “I was performing at another event in Lydenburg and met him for the second time. “Only then did we exchange details and became friends. Hencoe is very professional and he will always go out of his way to help people. I believe he is going all the way with Mr SA.”
An amount of R7 000 was raised and will be donated to the two foundations.
“This event was really an amazing experience, it was the first time that I’ve organised one of my own events. Mr SA is not just about the crowning, meeting of famous people and glam, it is mostly about the journey. I have entered Mr SA because I want to make a difference in my country and I want to give our youth a role model and ambassador to look up to. My inspirational quote in life is: Success is no accident, it’s hard work, perseverance, learning, studying and most of all, it is the love of what you are doing,” said Hencoe.
He currently ranks 14th on the Mr SA semi-finalist list.
He asks the community to help him reach the top five by sending MRSA002 via SMS to 47439.
