Residents set alight vehicles demanding tarred roads

The residents are irate because Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha previously promised that contractors were going to start with the roads in May this year.

STEELPOORT – The communities of Ga-Mampuru, Phasha and Tukakgomo  again wreaked havoc this week by blockading the R555, setting four trucks, a bus and several cars alight in the process.
The angry residents also barricaded the D1392 to Ga-Mampuru and the D24484 to Eerstegeluk with burning tyres and stones.

The residents demand that a tarred road be erected between Steelpoort and Eerstergeluk and also inner roads in the Mampuru and Phasha villages. They also demand jobs at the local mines.

The residents are irate because Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha previously promised that contractors were going to start with the roads in May this year. To this day nothing has been done. On Thursday morning, the protest was  still continuing. For this article and more grab a copy of the Steelburger/Lydenburg Newspaper this Friday.
