Company’s spirit of giving uplifts villages
Ngululu Bulk Carriers would like to help other schools in the community that struggle with funds to supply sanitary products to girls
BURGERSFORT – Since 2013 Ngululu Bulk Carriers has been assisting various poverty-stricken schools and villages in the Tubatse community in recent years.
“It all started when our company attended a Department of Education function. They spoke about the statistics of girls who did not attend school during their monthly cycle. These girls lived in such poverty that they were unable to buy sanitary products. After hearing that, we started a project to supply needy schools with these products,” said Lebo Yaka, employee of Ngululu Bulk Carriers.
This project now supplies female learners of 15 schools in the Tubatse circuit with sanitary products. During June, Ngululu Bulk Carriers also donated blankets to the elderly in different villages and in 2014 it bought school uniforms for underprivileged pupils.
Makopi High School, located in Ga-Kgwete Village, also benefited on June 19 when Ngululu Bulk Carriers donated 10 computers to the school. Vodacom will sponsor the monthly data needed by learners to access the Internet and Mr Shadrack Thobejane of Shaddies Welding Works, built the units for the computer lab free of charge.
