Ancyl leader accused of murder

Three men are accused of killing a man after allegedly catching him committing a robbery.

DRIEKOPPIES – The regional chairman of the ANC Youth League, Mr Bheki Lubisi (28) faces a murder charge in the Boschfontein Periodical Court.

Lubisi, who chairs the league’s Ehlanzeni region appeared along with two co-accused, Mr Bheki Vilakazi (29) and Mr Sikhumbuzo Vilakazi (35), on murder charges on Tuesday. They are accused of killing Mr Tshepo Magagula (21) and were arrested by the Driekoppies police on Monday.

Sgt Gerald Sedibe, spokesman for Mpumalanga SAPS, said the victim was assaulted after allegedly being found committing a robbery in Driekoppies near Malalane. Magagula’s family had rushed him to Shongwe Hospital in Nkomazi where he was declared dead on arrival.

The accused were not asked to plead to the charges. They have been released on R500 bail each and the case has been postponed to August 27.
