Shots fired during high speed chase

When Steelburger/Lydenburg News arrived at the court, traumatised employees told the newspaper that one stray bullet went through the window of the admin office.

LYDENBURG – A high-speed chase between two suspects and police has just occurred in town. A journalist of Steelburger/Lydenburg News witnessed the chase first-hand and was forced off the road by the suspect’s vehicle.
According to reports, Mpumalanga traffic officers tried to pull over a suspect gold Toyota Camry. The two suspects inside acted as if they were going to stop, but instead started speeding away causing chaos in Voortrekker Road. Various vehicles were forced off the road as the suspects sped through stop signs. The journalist tried to pursue the chase, but couldn’t keep up.
As she made her way to the police station to find out what was going on, shots were fired in De Clerq Street near the Magistrate’s Court. When Steelburger/Lydenburg News arrived at the court, traumatised employees told the newspaper that one stray bullet went through the window of the admin office. Miraculously, no one was seated at the desk near the window at the time. “We are traumatised. We heard shots and the next minute a bullet came flying through the window. Two suspects in a gold Camry were speeding past the court with a police vehicle and traffic behind it. One of the men was hanging out of the Camry, shooting at the police.”
The public is said to be on the lookout for a gold Toyota Camry with a GP registration number plate. The car was last spotted on the Roossenekal Road.
