Two men and two women lost their lives on the Louw’s Creek Road near Honeybird on Saturday at approximately 18:40. The accident occurred between an Isuzu Single Cab Bakkie with one male and one female occupant, and a Nissan Tiida with two males and one female occupant.

Although it has not been confirmed by the Traffic or SAPS officials on the scene, it seemed as if the driver of the Isuzu attempted a U-turn when the Nissan crashed into him.

Barberton and Mbombela ER24 were hard at work treating the other two male occupants of the Nissan. Rescue personnel from Umjindi Fire/Rescue Department had to use the Jaws of Life in order for the ER24 personnel to free the driver of the Nissan from the wreckage. The medics did their utmost to keep the patient alive, but in the end he also passed away at the scene.

The male passenger of the Nissan sustained a bone fracture and was taken to Rob Ferreira Hospital.
