Ooh-la-la! – Paris under the stars
September 4 will see yet another dazzling event, filled with top-class entertainment and incredible cuisine.
MBOMBELA – When one hears of French cuisine, some of the first things that come to mind are garlic snails and frog legs.
Not to worry, because, for yet another year on September 4, Night of a 1000 Stars promises to be one of the most spectacular events on this year’s social calendar – hosted by some of the best restaurants in town.
This glamorous street function will once again enchant guests at Sonpark Boulevard. This year’s event promises to be memorable when guests dress up with French flair and set off for an evening of fine dining, music and entertainment.
Night of a 1000 Stars is an annual event organised in aid of CANSA. Tickets are R300 per person, of which R150 half will be donated to CANSA.
There is also a “bring and share” option. For R150 per person you can join in – all you have to do is invite your friends, book a table, decorate it yourself in the French theme and bring your own food.
Playing with Fire Entertainment will showcase Ooh La La, its French band, which will provide the entertainment for the evening. “There is nothing as romantic as the accordion music from France, here put together with clarinet, double bass and violin. The repertoire is based on French Cafe tunes that the accordion does best and will transport you straight into an atmosphere under the starry skies of Paris,” said Sonpark’s marketing executive, Sandra Jacobs. “These talented musicians will perform on stage and will also stroll in the street serenading tables of guests.”
Add a few mime clowns, fire breathers and a couple of can-can girls and one can easily imagine to be in the heart of Paris. A dash of true Parisian cabaret from local artist Natascha C will complete the picture.
The real stars are of course the guests who will be treated to a delicious three-course meal, prepared by local restaurants, chefs and caterers. Fabulous prizes are up for grabs for the winners who participate in the chef’s competition, best table decor as well as the best-dressed lady and couple.
“The street comes alive with music, lights, entertainment and scrumptious food, all for charity,” said Meaghan Else of Sonpark, one of the event organisers.
