Boy escapes with minor injuries after accident

“It happened so fast but I am grateful that nothing serious happened to me. The worse part is that the reckless driver never stopped. He just drove off.

BURGERSFORT – A young boy survived a brush with death after being run over by a driver who had lost control of his car at Tubatse Crossing Mall.

David Frimino (12) told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that he sustained slight injuries to his stomach when he was hit by a black BMW m3 sedan.

“It happened so fast but I am grateful that nothing serious happened to me. The worse part is that the reckless driver never stopped. He just drove off.

“Luckily I was with my mother who rushed me to a hospital in Middelburg. I only sustained minor injuries and I am back at school,” said the grade five

learner of Highlands College.

Frimino said the doctors checked if his ribs were broken. “I still have pain but the medics assured me that I will recover.” Meanwhile on the same day, Ms Fatima Mahomed, owner of Highlands College, was also involved in a minor accident after another reckless driver had bumped her.

According to Mahomed the driver was driving on the pedestrian side.

Mahomed warned pedestrians and motorists to be cautious while in town and to adhere to road rules. “The guy who slightly bumped me was drunk and rude. He never even apologised for almost injuring me, it’s high time locals drive responsibly.”
