Local couple robbed at gunpoint

On September 6 at about 19:00 five men approached a couple who was walking home in Orlando and held them at gunpoint demanding their cash and cellphones.

KOMATIPOORT – While the suspects were robbing the victims, a vehicle approached and they fled the scene. The couple then continued to walk home when the suspects reappeared and threatened them with two firearms.

They assaulted them and stole a handbag which contained R1 200 cash as well as two cellphones. Three suspects were arrested the following morning and found in possession of one firearm, alleged to be a toy gun.

Mr Bongani Mhlogo (27), Mr Tumelo Teko (33), and Mr Kenneth Khoza appeared in the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court on September 8 where the case was postponed to September 15 for bail application.

At the time of going to print the outcome was still unknown.
