Local schools excell in cricket games at district level
“They raised against all odds to excel in cricket and I want to change the stigma that rural schools cannot participate in cricket. I hope these learners will be more clinical in their bowling and batting when they represent the Sekhukhune district in the provincial games in Polokwane on September 19.
BURGERSFORT – Two schools in Tubatse put the platinum town on the map when they excelled in their cricket matches recently.
Praktiseer’s Itirele Primary and Maokeng Secondary of Kgautswana gave excellent performances on the pitch.
Itirele won the Sekhukhune district’s schools league games in the u/13 boys and also u/13 girls. Itirele’s cricket coach, Patricia Pitjadi told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that she was proud of her teams.

Pitjadi thanked Samancor Eastern Chrome Mines (ECM) for sponsoring Itirele with cricket attire and equipment.
Maokeng also won the same competition with their u/17 cricket team.
Other local schools were triumphant in several sporting codes in the district’s schools league. Legoleng Primary won the volley ball boys u/13 and girls u/13 category. Mmiditsi Secondary School also won the soccer’s u/17 games.
