Sculptor shares the Word with art

The De Ark Kunstefees was launched with an exquisite sculpture show by renowned artist Nic Grobler on Friday October 2.

LYDENBURG – The De Ark Kunstefees was launched with an exquisite sculpture show by renowned artist Nic Grobler on Friday October 2.

The turnout was not great although it did not stop the show from going on.

Each one of the 25 sculptures has a message and a story. They are divided into seven categories: Let all the earth praise the Lord; people from our valley created after His image; the crux the pride was paid; a new relationship; our privilege as a child of God; our mandate and grateful.

During the exhibition some of the guests said the message and story of the sculptures had made them view the stories from the Bible in a different way.

“The exhibition has made me understand the Bible from a new perspective and it feels good to be surrounded by such sculptures,” Barry van Niekerk said.

According to Grobler his passion began while he was still studying. “When I started sculpting I wanted my work to convey a message and to minister the Word of God to the public. We all have our various ways of sharing the Word to people and this is my way,” he said.
