Doctor falls to her death at Rob Ferreira Hospital

We convey our deepest condolences to her family and hope an investigation could shed some light on what could have lead to her death

MBOMBELA – The police’s forensic officials are currently at the living quarters of staff at Rob Ferreira Hospital where the dead body of a doctor was discovered early this morning.

It is not clear whether officials are investigating a murder case or mere inquest at this stage.

Dr Phumzile Nkosi (52) had been working as a dentist at the hospital for six years and was residing in a block of flats at the hospital. Her next of kin has already been notified of her death.

According to provincial police spokesman, Brig Selvy Mohlala, she stayed in an apartment on the sixth floor. Her lifeless body was discovered outside the building at about 07:00 by someone who also stays there.

“At this stage we cannot say whether she jumped to her death or was pushed and we are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death,” he added.

Mr Dumisani Malamule, spokesman for the Department of Health, said that the department was shocked by her death. “We convey our deepest condolences to her family and hope an investigation could shed some light on what could have lead to her death.”
