BLOCK A – Last Wednesday police uncovered the body of a 25-year-old woman in her house.

Ms Simphiwe Mathebula was found half naked on her bed with strangulation marks on her neck. It is also believed that she might have been raped before her murder.

Police discovered the remains after receiving a complaint from community members who led them to Mathebula’s house. The body was taken to the government mortuary at Tonga Hospital for further examination, and the suspect is still unknown.

Tonga Police Station’s acting station commander, Lt Col Bhutani Sibiya, appeals to the community to assist the SAPS with information that will help in arresting the suspect.

“Such people do not belong in the community but behind bars. Anyone with information can contact Lt Col Lindiwe Nobunga on 082-464-6332,” Sibiya stressed.
