DA leader tours the province
Democratic Alliance leader Mr Mmusi Maimane and other provincial leaders visited Bushbuckridge on Sunday morning as part of the party's National Vision 2029 tour.
A crowd of community members gathered for the public meeting at Majembeni in Bushbuckridge on Sunday morning to listen to Maimane and the DA’s vision for the municipality and province over the next few years.
Maimane started his speech by talking about the potential of the province in regards to tourism, agriculture and various other industries and how he enjoyed visiting Mpumalanga.
He also stated that this potential is being held back by the performance of its government and undermined by the lack of proper service delivery.
Next the DA leader highlighted the importance of the Constitution. “[It] is a constant reminder of what the government’s responsibilities are, and what your rights are. At the DA, we fight very hard to protect this Constitution, because the Constitution is the only thing that can protect us, the people of South Africa, from a bad government.” Maimane stated.
He also mentioned the community’s struggle with lack of water and stated that it is one of the basic services, “non-negotiable things a government must provide.”
Maimane spoke about how the DA could bring about change, by electing government officials that will best be able to deliver services and create job opportunities, display zero tolerance for corruption and are honest and hard-working.
He concluded the speech by urging the community to vote for his party in next year’s municipal elections.
