Operation Fiela sweeps through town

Police officers from the Nelspruit cluster conducted Operation Fiela, an anti-crime initiative, on October 16 and made several arrests.

Local police officers arrested several suspects during Operation Fiela, a large-scale operation aimed at routing out criminals, on October 16.

Fourteen illegal immigrants were arrested and handed over to the Department of Home Affairs, six people were arrested for drinking in public and four for possession of drugs.

Five suspects were cuffed for violating the law governing the employment of foreigners, non-compliance of the Municipal Act 19 of 1999, possession of housebreaking instruments and possession of a firearm.

A total of 11 people were also issued with fines for traffic violations.
