New camp for Kruger National Park
The Pafuri border camp will be about 70 kilometres from te camp's Punda Maria gate.
MBOMBELA – From November 1, the Kruger National Park (KNP) will boast with another camp called the Pafuri Border Camp. This was confirmed by the park’s communication’s department today.
The Pafuri border camp will be located in the Pafuri section of the Park, about 70 kilometres from te camp’s Punda Maria gate.
KNP Managing Executive, Mr Glenn Phillips, said that the park is very excited about this new addition. “The accommodation facility has a rich history and our tourists will be able to spend more time in the area. With abundance of large trees due to its proximity to Luvuvhu and Limpopo Rivers, the border camp will offer great birding opportunities to guests.”
The facility includes three houses called Mockford Residence, Mockford Cottage and Dr Guesthouse. The houses will accommodate up to 18 people – eight, four and six people respectively.
A reception, swimming pool and museum will be operational next year.
“The establishment of this facility had a negligible environmental impact as all the buildings were already there and all that was needed was to re-organise things and equip the units with tourist basic needs”, said Phillips.
