MALALANE -This was their second appearance after they had been arrested last week and denied bail on November 24.
According to the police report, Mr Dumisani Mamba (25) and Mr Given Khoza (31) were part of a gang of five suspects which allegedly robbed the lodge.
According to spokesman for the Komatipoort SAPS, Const Natacia Mbuyane, Mamba was caught on camera making a phone call believed to have been to the four suspects.
“Minutes after Mamba was seen making the phone call, four men arrived in a Toyota Tazz. Mamba could be seen just lifting his hands, and lying on the ground. He pointed in a certain direction, which the four men followed and they were seen returning with knives before approaching the lodge manager demanding money,” Mbuyane explained,
According to Mbuyane, the suspects found that no money was being kept on the premises. They, however, took a wallet containing R2 200 and a cellphone.
After the suspects had fled the scene with those two items, Mamba reportedly called the SAPS and the relevant security company, who chased down the perpetrators.
When the law enforcers apprehended the suspects, three of the four fled on foot and are still at large.
Khoza was arrested on the scene and taken in for questioning where he pointed out Mamba as the mastermind behind the heist.
At the time of going to print the outcome of the suspects’ appearance was not yet known.
Police are also still investigating and they expect to make more arrests.
