BURGERSFORT – A vehicle was stolen on Sunday morning when culprits removed a part of a wall to gain access to the property. Miss Sue Schoeman, a resident of Aloe Ridge West, said the incident occurred around 02:00.
“We were asleep and a rain storm was raging outside which made it difficult for us to hear suspicious sounds. The suspects removed a part of our concrete wall and drove our vehicle through the nearby veld to the tar road where they escaped unnoticed,” said Schoeman.
By 02:20 a surveillance camera, three streets away from the Schoeman residence, recorded the suspects travelling in the vehicle towards the R37.
On Sunday morning after Schoeman realised their Volkswagen Citi Golf was missing, she immediately contacted the police. “The police arrived within minutes. The inspector at the scene said that three or more suspects must have been involved in the robbery because of all the manpower that was needed to remove the wall and vehicle.
He also added that they usually stole vehicles to use in other robberies. A case was opened, but the car is still missing. Officers are still busy with the investigation,” she said. The Citi Golf’s registration number is HDY 780 MP.
If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects or vehicle, please contact the police on 013-231-0200.
