Citizens’ safety is a top priority
Lately we were becoming victims of fraudsters who are busy with card-cloning scams, and stealing our bank cards

MALALANE – With the festive season upon us, there has been an influx of shoppers making their way to Inkwazi Shopping Centre. This always creates an opportunity for criminals. However, with the most-recent security upgrades, shoppers have said they feel safer this festive season.
“There are more police vans driving around the complex than usual,” said one shopper. Apart from an increased visibility around the centre, the SAPS have also set up a crime-prevention trailer.
“Lately we were becoming victims of fraudsters who are busy with card-cloning scams, and stealing our bank cards. Now at least we know that they have no chance to do anything. Security guards are at every ATM, now we are safe,” said Ms Nelisiwe Zitha.
Malelane SAPS spokesman, Sgt Bheki Nkosi, said they hold not only increased police viability on the premises, but also the entire town.
“We are covering every block of the town this season, we want to ensure that every citizen making its way to the town has a safe experience,” said Nkosi.
He added that they were also focusing on swift response to reports of incidents. Nkosi furthermore urged people to report any crime they might witness.
He said, “They should inform any officer they come across, they don’t have to go to their nearest police station. They can report a crime to any police officer or the nearest police caravan.”
