They will reappear in court on January 7, 2016.
SCHOEMANSDAL – Three suspects, Machawe Mncina 22, Mxolisi Sayiya 28 and his wife Charity Nkosi 25, appeared before the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on December 29, following the discovery of a firearm that was robbed from a Police Official.
Police had launched a manhunt in an attempt to recover the firearm before it endangered peoples’ lives and used in the commission of serious crimes. As a result the probe yielded positive results and the trio were brought to book.
First to be arrested was Mncina, whom it is believed that he was the one who attacked the Police Official on the night of November 29, this year, at his house in Schoemansdal. When Police questioned him, he told them he was the one who have robbed the official but the firearm was with his friend.
Police then took him to his friend’s place, Sayiya who was not present when police arrived. They found his wife Nkosi who pointed the firearm to the Police after being questioned. She was nabbed and later on the same day, the husband was nabbed too.
The suspects, Nkosi and Sayiya are facing a charge of unlawful possession of firearm whilst Mcina a robbery with an instrument other than a firearm. Nkosi has been released on warning while Sayiya and Mncina were remanded in custody. All three will appear again on January 07, 2016, pending further investigation and formal bail application for Sayiya and Mncina.
The Police in Mpumalanga vowed to ensure that they will not allow criminals to deter them from doing their duties.
