Donate your bottles to save life

The campaign also calls on volunteers to drop off their water donations at designated drop-off areas.

MBOMBELA – There hasn’t been enough rain to fill up the dams and the continuous heatwave has affected locals adversely. For that reason, a group of good Samaritans has vowed to help destitute people in areas that are affected by drought across the country.

The Water Shortage in South Africa campaign collects and distributes water bottles to drought-stricken areas. The campaign also calls on volunteers to drop off their water donations at designated drop-off areas.

The campaign still needs volunteers to help with collecting and distributing the water to the various areas. Some local companies, such as City Bug,  have already bought into the initiative.

The company helps to distribute the water to other areas in the country. In Mbombela volunteers can fill up their two- and five-litre bottles and drop them off at Agrimark Nelspruit in Riverside Industrial Park.

The bottles are marked “DW” – for drinking water, and “TW” – for tank water. The DW-categorised bottles are for drinking and cooking while TW can be used for animal drinking and other general
uses.

It is also important that volunteers mark the bottles correctly to help the campaigners to arrange the water bottles correctly. Other drop-off areas are situated in different areas across the country. The drop-off areas splited in order to reach a variety of places across the country.

People who are willing to join and help with water bottles can contact the group of Facebook for more details.
