Marathon icon takes part in Lydenburg Park Run
Bruce Fordyce, one of South Africa's most famous marathon and ultramarathon athletes, recently participated in the town's own Park Run.
LYDENBURG – Bruce Fordyce, one of South Africa’s most famous marathon and ultramarathon athletes, recently participated in the town’s own Park Run. Fordyce is best known for having won the South African Comrades for a record nine times, of which eight were consecutive.
He also won the London to Brighton Marathon three years in a row. He is the current world record holder over 50 miles and the former world record holder over 100 kilometres.
He stayed at Aquaterra Guest House during his visit. Pictured here are Charlene Coetzee of Aquaterra with Bruce and his wife Gill and Ernest Coetzee. Lydenburg’s Park Run takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at the fisheries.
