Hawks seize 90g of cocaine during raid on police officer’s Emgwenya home
An operation targeting a public order police member takes an unexpected turn, leaving investigators probing their own colleague while his brother faces court.

The brother of a public order police officer was arrested for possession of cocaine worth about R20 000 in Emgwenya on Friday, October 23.
According to the Mpumalanga Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), the arrest followed an armed search at a municipal flat yesterday morning.
Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Magonseni Nkosi said officers uncovered two large rocks and one smaller rock of suspected cocaine weighing around 90g in total.

He said the operation targeted the police officer – who was not found at the premises – which led to his brother’s arrest.
Nkosi said the confiscated drugs have been secured for forensic testing.
“Investigations into the police officer’s alleged involvement remain ongoing,” Nkosi said.
“The suspect is expected to appear in the Waterval Boven Magistrate’s Court soon.”
