Drug-dealing accused enters a plea of not guilty

The Barberton Magistrate’s Court postponed the case of a Mozambican man arrested in connection with drugs worth R50 million. He will appear on March 23 for formal bail application.

Jeronimo Masoio (49) briefly appeared before magistrate, Meriam Mabetwa, on Monday afternoon. A Portuguese interpreter was present.

He was represented by defence attorney Vusi Mboweni of Mboweni Attorneys.
Masoio pleaded not guilty to a charge of dealing in drugs.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesman, Brig Selvy Mohlala, he was arrested on Sunday March 6 by the White River K9 Unit after a tip-off had been received regarding a vehicle travelling from Mozambique to Gauteng, which was being used to smuggler drugs.
