Wanted fugitive is back behind bars

Escaped fugitive and one of Nkomazi's most-wanted criminals, Isaac Madonsela (39), was rearrested on March 31.

TONGA – According to the spokesman for the Tonga police, Lt Mzwandile Nyambi, Madonsela along with two others, jumped out of a police van while being transported to prison last year. He managed to evade police and reportedly terrorised communities in the Nkomazi area.

“Madonsela is wanted for a number of house-robbery cases, business-robbery cases and escape from lawful custody case,” Nyambi explained.

Madonsela was arrested by members of the Tonga Cluster Police in Komatipoort.

He appeared in the Tonga Magistrate’s Court on April 5 and was denied bail. His next court appearance will be on May 6 and he will be charged for crimes allegedly committed while he was on the run.

Acting Tonga cluster commander, Brig Velisiwe Mdaka, expressed her gratitude to the police members who worked tirelessly to ensure that Madonsela was finally arrested to face justice.
