Vigilant police officers recover stolen vehicle

Two suspects were detained at the weighbridge near Komatipoort as they were travelling in a stolen vehicle.

KOMATIPOORT – Last Wednesday night local police apprehended and arrested two suspects for the unlawful possession of a BMW X3.

Sgt Thamsanqa Mbambo and Const Owen Khoza were conducting a routine stop-and-search at the weighbridge on the N4, when they pulled over a white BMW with two occupants from Mozambique.

Khoza checked the vehicle’s licence disc and found that it did not correspond with its registration plates.

He then requested the vehicle’s documentation and suspected that the papers were fake, as well an affidavit that had an identity number that didn’t match the one on the vehicle papers.

The two men were detained and taken to Komatipoort Police Station. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen at Bezini Police Station in Gauteng.
