Kidnappers sentenced to 38 years

According to police the suspect allegedly approached the victim (41) as she was walking to a shop on the farm. He threatened her with a knife, ordered her to undress and raped her.

Andrea Mnisi (27) and Sbusiso Mdluli, (28) were convicted in the White River Magistrate’s Court on April 21. They were found guilty of housebreaking, attempted murder and kidnapping, and each sentenced to 38 years imprisonment.

They were arrested on May 20, 2009, for crimes committed on May 15, 2009 on Plot 71 Katoen near White River.
A 22-year-old man appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court on April 20 on a charge of rape.
The incident occurred on Monday April, 18 at Curlews Farm.

According to police the suspect allegedly approached the victim (41) as she was walking to a shop on the farm. He threatened her with a knife, ordered her to undress and raped her.

Police were alerted about the incident. On arrival personnel from ACS Security handed over the suspect to police officers and he was taken into custody.

The victim was rushed to hospital.
The case was postponed until April 28 and the accused will stay in custody until then.
