The Rooikatte rugby team played the best game of their league season when they faced off against Nelspruit on home turf.

The local team won 34-12. Reginald Bezuidenhout scored a try for the Rooikatte in the first six minutes. In the first half, the Rooikatte scored four of them, earning the squad a bonus point.
The second half was not as smooth as the first for the home team. Bezuidenhout scored two tries, Archie Jacobs also scored two, with Sarel Esterhuizen and Morné Pienaar one each.Gerhardt Strydom converted two of the six kicks.
According to Jaco Pienaar, the head coach of Rooikatte, every player gave their best on the field.
“The men of the match were Cassie Steyn in the backline and Archie Jacobs in the front line. It was not easy selecting the two men because everyone played exceptionally well.
“The defence by the players was phenomenal, especially in the last
20 minutes of the second half.
“This game showed us that the hard practice we had put in the past two weeks paid off and assistant coach Tony Booyens and I are very proud of the outcome,”
After the great game the team had on Saturday they are looking forward to their next one tomorrow against Malelane on the latter’s ground.
The Rooikatte has played four games since the league started and have six to go.
