Thabane to represent Sekhukhune district in the water competition

The competition targets grade-seven learners and is based on projects that convey health and hygiene messages through art mediums such as drama, traditional music, poetry, praise singing and posters. BURGERSFORT – Thabane Primary School in Mabotshe recently qualified to represent the Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) in the baswa le meetse (youth in water) competition which will be held in Polokwane next month.The competition, organised by the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Land and Environmental Affairs in partnership with the Department of Basic Education.

Pupils from all nine provinces participated.

Glen Mnisi (11) designed and made the winning poster. It depicts ways to save and preserve water.

The school management said they were pleased with the school’s achievement.

“We are honoured to have mentored the learners, and it shows that hard work pays. We hope to do well in Polokwane and qualify to represent the Limpopo Province at national level.”

In 2014, Marota Primary School from Ga Motodi Village clinched the competition. The school won 21 computers, one overhead data projector, a three-in-one printer and a cash prize of R6 000 for their school.
