Rooikatte beat the odds in Enhlanzeni Mayor’s League

The Rooikatte ended Barberton's wining streak on Saturday at Lydenburg Rugby Club.

The Rooikatte ended Barberton’s wining streak on Saturday at Lydenburg Rugby Club.

Barberton had been undefeated in the Ehlanzeni Mayor’s League this season.

The local team won 26-14. According to Jaco Potgieter, head coach of Rooikatte, both teams had a great game.

“We are delighted to be the first to win against Barberton. The players gave their all and played their hearts out.”

The following players scored tries: Ruhan Bouwer (2), Francois Faulds (1), and Theunis Coetzee (1). Gerhardt Strydom converted three tries.

The players of the match were Ruhan Bouwer (forwards) and Gerhardt Strydom (backline).

The local team will play in Mbombela on Saturday
