NCF is a non-profit organisation established in 2004 in response to the many people living on and from the streets of Mbombela.
The centre’s manager, Brenda Mare, expressed her gratitude for the assistance.
“We are always open to receive assistance from the community at large,” she said. Mare added that the centre did not receive any subsidy from government, hence it needed more participation from the Mbombela community.
The finalists said they started the soup kitchen project to give something back to their community. They added that it saddened them to see people sleeping next to the road, having nothing to eat and praying for someone to help them.

That is the reason why they decided to do something about it. The finalists also collected tinned food to help NCF feed as many homeless people as possible.
“We believe action speaks louder than words so we helped to prepare soup for them. We also assisted with other tasks in the kitchen,” the finalists said.
