Bogus bomb threat at FNB

The phone call claiming that there was a bomb in the building was called through at 14:04 in the afternoon.

LYDENBURG – A bomb threat called through to the FNB bank in Voortrekker Street on Friday forced the entire branch including employees and customers to immediately evacuate the building.

The phone call claiming that there was a bomb in the building was called through at 14:04 in the afternoon.

According to SAPS spokesperson, Capt. Alfred Moela, an employee of Lydenburg FNB received a telephone call from a man introducing himself to her as John. “The man told the employee that she must drop the phone and evacuate the bank because there is a bomb in the building. He claimed that he has also already informed the police, Phoenix security and the K9 unit of the explosive device. The man said that all of the above mentioned units as well as himself are on their to the bank.”
