Tip-off from community leads to successful arrest of dagga suspect

The officers went to the suspect's house and upon arrival they found a 25-kilogram maize-meal bag with dagga inside.

LYDENBURG – Local police arrested a suspect in possession of dagga during the early hours of Thursday morning at Dunuza extension in Mashishing. This follows after the police received a tip-off at 01:00 informing them about a man selling dagga at one of the shacks in the township. According to local police spokesman, Capt Alfred Kaizer Moela, they immediately followed up on the tip-off.

“The officers went to the suspect’s house and upon arrival they found a 25-kilogram maize-meal bag with dagga inside.

The suspect was immediately detained and charged. Mr Sinhle Ntuli, appeared in Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court on September 1. The case was postponed for further investigations. He was released and his next appearance is on October 20.”

Moela added that they are happy with the communication channels being built between the police and public.
