Thieves get away with cables valued at R14 000

BURGERSFORT- Brazen criminals have stolen Mr Colbert Maimela’s cables worth over R14 000,on the R37 just opposite the new Burgersfort Toyota buildings. The crime was committed on the night of September 5. According to Maimela, he has a contract with the Greater Tubatse Fetakgomo Municipality (GTFM) under the company Colmab Electrical to fix and mainatin street lights in the town.

“I started fixing the lights and installing cables about a fortnight ago . On Monday we knocked off at 17:00 with everything in order.We were shocked to see the cable of about 165 metres stolen on the morning of September 6,” he said.

The alleged thieves had dug the cable up.”We work hard to improve the towm but heartless people destroy the good work we do,” a frustrated Maimela said.

A cable theft case was opened at the Burgersfort Police Station and according to the station spokesman Const Victoria Maluleke, investigations are underway.
