Pupils celebrate their heritage in a kaleidoscope of colours

Laerskool Bergland celebrated Heritage Day in a kaleidoscope of colour on September 23.

Every grade in the school was asked to wear a T-shirt of a different colour and pupils then stood in a rainbow formation to symbolise the rainbow nation, which has become a term synonymous with South Africa’s diverse population.

Grade R and one wore light purple and grade two dark purple. Grade three pupils wore blue and grade fours sported green. Grade five, six and seven wore yellow, orange and red, respectively.

If pupils did not have one of the specific colours, they were asked to wear white on the day.

Each pupil also received a boerewors roll to celebrate Braai Day. During break times, the pupils could buy cake and succulents.
