BREAKING NEWS: Eskom’s national spokesperson confirms cut-off

"I can, unfortunately, confirm that the cut-off will take place on March 13. "

LYDENBURG – Eskom’s national spokeperson, Khulu Pasiwe, has just confirmed to Steelburger/Lydenburg News that the expected interruption of bulk electricity to Thaba Chweu Municipality (TCM) will go ahead on March 13.

The newspaper spoke to Pasiwe exclusively on the matter on Tuesday morning at 11:45. He confirmed that TCM is on Eskom’s radar system for non-paying municipalities. “I can, unfortunately, confirm that the cut-off will take place on March 13. We have not received any payment or discussion towards a feasible repayment plan. Should TCM not make the full payment of R300 million or a reasonable down payment, we will interrupt the bulk electricity supply to the municipal region.”

There are just six days left before the disconnection will take place. TCM’s chief financial officer, Lesley Mokoena, said that the municipality will issue an urgent press release tomorrow regarding the Eskom issue.
