Four suspected murderers in court

Four people are in police custody after killing two people in separate cases in Tonga and Naas over the weekend.

TONGA – Sunday was a bloody day for local communities after two people were murdered in separate incidents.

Early in the morning, a young man was walking from a tavern when he was approached by three suspects. They allegedly accused him of stealing and started assaulting him until he died.

The three suspects were arrested for murder and appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Mr Elias, Mr Sithole (19), Mr Bongani Mashaba (21) and Mr Solly Mlambo (18) were denied bail and will remain in custody until their next court appearance on Monday.

Later that day, a man (37) was arrested in Mdladla after stabbing and killing his mother.

According to community members, the suspect accused his mother of performing witchcraft, grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed her.

Police were called to the scene where paramedics found the dead victim.

A case of murder was opened and appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and was denied bail. He will also appear in court again on Monday.
