Woman arrested twelve times in four years for dagga possession

A 45-year-old resident of Naas was recently arrested for possession of dagga, the 12th time she's been nabbed on the same offence since 2013.

TONGA – Police received a tip-off that a woman in Naas had the drugs in her room and swooped in for the arrest.

According to Tonga SAPS spokesman, Capt Mzwandile Nyambi, she was arrested once in 2013 and 2014, twice in 2015 and seven times last year. She was found guilty each time.

The suspect appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday afternoon. At the time of going to press the outcome was unknown.

Tonga station commander, Brig Velisiwe Mdaka, condemned her behaviour and urged the community not to become repeat offenders.
