BUSHBUCKRIDGE – A reaction officer of CSG Hi-Tech Northern Regions, is currently fighting for his life after being attacked in the early hours of today.

According to acting operations manager, Mr Ian DePaiva, he was busy observing a high-risk area in Bushbuckridge when three armed suspects surrounded his vehicle and opened fire, hitting the victim twice.

“He was rushed to Mapulaneng Hospital where he was stabilised, after which he was transferred to Kiaat,” added DePaiva.

“One of the bullets were lodged in the suspect’s chest, and he needs go into surgery this afternoon to have it removed.”

Even though the suspects’ intention cannot be confirmed, CSG Hi-Tech Lowveld attributes the attack to an increased focus on crime in rural areas. “Their intention were clear – they shot to kill,” said DePaiva.

“We have put a contingency plan in place, as this is the second attack on a CSG Hi-Tech vehicle in the past week,” concluded DePaiva.
