Police bust suspects with truck loaded with counterfeit sneakers

Police recovered counterfeit sneakers worth over R400 000 in early yesterday morning after receiving a tip-off that a truck was travelling through the area with illicit goods.

HECTORSPRUIT – Two police officers rushed to the Engen garage around 02:00 yesterday after getting a tip-off that a truck was parked there with a load of counterfeit goods.

Sgt. Thamzanxa Mbambo and Const Cebile Ndlovu found the truck, reportedly from Mozambique, and asked the driver and two passengers if they could search the truck.

The three individuals consented and the officers found bags full of sneakers in different brands. This seemed suspicious to the duo and they took the three suspects to the Komatipoort Police Station for further investigation.
