Two Rivers achieves impressive four million fatality-free shifts
TRP represents one of the largest platinum reserves in South Africa.
LYDENBURG – Two Rivers Platinum (TRP) Mine recently achieved four million fatality-free shifts. It took the mine five years and seven months to achieve this prestigious safety achievement.
Three themes in achieving zero harm are always highlighted at this mine, which encompass the ethos of TRP working as one team striving towards employee commitment in becoming pilots of their own safety and that all mine employees have a “voice” to speak up when there are unsafe conditions or practices. In a statement, management made sure to thank the employees for their contribution to this achievement.
“Management is pleased to announce that TRP has just achieved its four million fatal-free shifts after five years and seven months. We would like to thank each and every employee, contractor and stakeholder for contributing to this significant milestone in our flight to zero harm. It is, however, important to remember that good is the enemy of great, and the focus should remain on zero injuries. “It is important for us as leaders to use this opportunity for this milestone that we achieved to motivate our people to be the greatest and safest mine in the industry. Once again, congratulations. You are a great team.”
The operation comprises an underground mine consisting of the Main Decline, a North Decline and a concentrator plant. The mine is jointly owned and operated by African Rainbow Minerals and Impala Platinum. TRP represents one of the largest platinum reserves in South Africa.
