Many Barbertonians might know by now that Mrs Mpumalanga finalist, Jené Smit has adopted the children of Nakama.
Last Thursday she spent time with them again.

“Today, seeing that spoiling them with sweet treats is always at the very top of my list, I decided to give them some toothbrushes and toothpaste, too. I taught them about oral hygiene and demonstrated how to use the toothbrush.
“I always enjoy my time with the children. They teach me something new every time. I realised today that nothing in life must be taken for granted, no matter how big or small,” said Smit.
She said everything we have is a blessing.
“The language barrier is always a bit of a challenge, but one of the little girls made my day today when she said ‘dankie’ when handing her her toothbrush. I know for sure that this is a word she learned recently in order to communicate with me, it was so sweet. They don’t have to thank me with their words though, it is in their eyes and smiles that I can see the appreciation of my presence in their lives,” Smit added.
