The employees wore traditional regalia, and came together to celebrate the day under the theme “Culture Diversity at Work”.
According to Winnie Msibi, the organiser of the awareness programmes, the purpose of the events is to promote health in the working area.
“The hospital aligns any national event and gives it a theme. They then celebrate it at the hospital. During the day of celebration, we invite expert speakers on the subject matter to educate our employees,” said Msibi.

Since last month was Heritage Month, they themed the event around diversity.
Ronnie Makamo helped educate attendees about the various traditions and cultures.
Andrea de La Rey, the hospital’s corporate manager, thanked everyone present and encouraged the employees to respect the different cultures.
The event was concluded by staging three cultural competitions, where the winners were awarded various prizes.

During the first competition for the best dressed, everyone who attended was a winner and were all awarded gold medals.
The traditional choir competition was uncontested, and the siSwati traditional choir won.
Thabo Masinga won the tightly contested incathu competition, while Eliot Mathebula won the marabaraba game.
Joyce Sifuba, chairman of the local elderly people forum, was among the guest speakers.
Sifuba emphasised the difference between culture and tradition. She also gave a brief on the siSwati tradition and its significant clothing.
