Celebrate strength and spirit at the SPAR Women’s Challenge

Fill the streets with laughter, energy and the vibrant colours of celebration.

The SPAR Women’s Challenge has long been more than just a race; it is a movement. What began as a local road race has transformed into a vibrant event of empowerment, sisterhood and community impact. This year, as the journey continues through the beautiful landscapes of the Lowveld National Botanical Garden, the event invites every woman to lace up her shoes; not just for personal fitness, but for a cause that resonates far beyond the finish line.

In the Lowveld, this journey is a celebration of heritage and hope. It’s a day where elite athletes and first-time walkers stand side-by-side, embodying the spirit of unity that defines the region. The true magic of the SPAR Women’s Challenge lies in its heart. Every entry fee and every step taken contributes to uplifting those in need. This year, the challenge is proud to support an incredible NPO dedicated to the protection and advancement of women and children in Mpumalanga.

The Mbombela-based Greater Rape Intervention Programme (GRIP) maintains care rooms within police stations and hospitals, ensuring that survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) have a safe, private space to receive immediate counselling and assistance after an incident. Staff and volunteers assist with reporting, navigating the justice system and understanding a survivor’s legal rights.

The organisation runs community awareness campaigns to challenge the stigma surrounding GBV and to educate the public on prevention and intervention.

When you join the 4.9km or 10km challenge, you aren’t just crossing a finish line; you are helping a survivor find safety and dignity through GRIP. We invite you to bring your mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. Let us fill the streets with laughter, energy and the vibrant colours of celebration. Whether you run for the prize, walk for your health, or take part for the cause, your presence makes a difference. Join us in the Lowveld as we run with purpose and celebrate the incredible women who move us all.
