Mercure Nelspruit Hotel under new ownership
This and other news was announced at a cocktail evening held on November 21 to update the public on recent developments which had taken place at the hotel over the past year.
MBOMBELA – Big changes are planned for the Mercure Nelspruit Hotel. Group financial manager of Accor Hospitality, Arthur Nieuwoudt, told Lowvelder that Accor Hotels sold its shares in the Mercure companies in Mbombela, Bedfordview, Randburg and Midrand.

Consequently, while Accor Hotels will still be responsible for the management of the business, the ownership falls to Batsomi Investment Holdings.

The cocktail evening featured a number of speakers, including the director of Mercure, Sizakele Xulu, the vice-president of Accor Sub-Saharan Africa, Patrick Gengler, the group sales manager Robert Ngcobo and the new general manager, Nisha MacDougall.

Chief operating officer for the Batsomi Group, Dominic Hoole, spoke about planned changes for the local branch.
“We acquired the property around this time last year. Since then we have thought about renovating the rooms, bathrooms and pool area. Currently we are in the planning stages of these renovations. If all goes well, they should happen sometime next year.”
Guests enjoyed a buffet of finger foods and various beverages while networking with one another.
