SAPS fail to respond to house robbery

SAPS failed to show up at a house robbery last Thursday.

The police were called at about 15:30 by Marius de Beer, who reported a robbery at his home.
“Unfortunately my daughter was home alone when the robbers tried to gain access to our home,” De Beer said. “They fled next door when she threatened to call the police and also attempted to gain access into our neighbour’s home.”
When De Beer arrived home, he checked the security footage and found that the police never arrived. “We relied on them for my daughter’s safety and they were nowhere to be found. She was terrified.”
Sgt Gerald Sedibe, police spokesman, said that the complainant can lay a formal report with the station commander of Nelspruit SAPS, so that the matter can be investigated further to see why it was not attended to.
“We are very upset by this,” De Beer added. “The damage could have been so much worse.”
