Mobile unit to provide full home affairs services
A mobile unit has now been provided behind the building which provides full DHA services.

LYDENBURG – Since the closure of the building in which the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) operates, residents have been struggling with obtaining much-needed documentation and services.
This follows after the roof apparently caved in on account of a termite infestation. Employees and customers were evacuated from the office last Friday. A source told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that not only the roof is a massive concern. The whole building is at risk.
A mobile unit has now been provided behind the building which provides full DHA services including:
- Temporary Identity Cards
- Birth Certificates
- Marriage Certificates
- Smart ID Cards (Only done at the nearest office)
- Passports
According to the office manager of Lydenburg’s DHA, Angel Yende, the unit will be available until an alternative has been found to the collapsing building. She said that she urges residents of Praktiseer and Burgersfort to rather make use of the offices there providing the same services.
“The mobile unit serves Lydenburg and close proximity areas and will be available until further notice.”
