Paul Phokane is the winner of the Temba competition Ford Ranger

BURGERSFORT – The winner for the much talked about Temba Engen Filling Station’s bakkie competition was announced last Saturday. The function was held at the store.Shoppers from all corners of Tubatse flocked to Engen to witness the lucky draw.

Paul Phokane, from Diphale Village, was on cloud nine after being announced the winner of the brand-new Ford Ranger 2.2 TDCi 4X2Lr single cab.Phokane, a loyal client at Temba, beat stiff competition from thousands of entrants. Five finalists’ names were drawn and they had to pick a key, hoping it would be the one to unlock and start the vehicle.
Phokane was the lucky one to pick the correct key.Speaking after winning the competition, Phokane said he had a feeling that he would be the winner.
“I couldn’t have missed the finale of the competition. There was this feeling inside me that I will be the winner. I will cherish this vehicle and take good care of it. Thanks to the organisers of the competition and the sponsors. I will now cruise in my new vehicle.”

Phokane was not the only winner on the day. The four other finalists in the car competition were handed vouchers worthR2 000 by the organisers.Lots of entertainment was provided during the event with locals going home with an avalanche of gifts, vouchers and cash.The Temba Engen bakkie competition was initiated by Temba, Barcelos and Overland Liquors in October 2018.
Locals had the weekly opportunity to win hampers worth R300 since last year. For entrants to be part of the competition, all they had to do was to spend R150 or more at any of the three stores.
Twenty-eight weekly winners were announced before Phokane was revealed as the big winner.Divan Du Plessis, manager at Temba, said they will continue offering exciting and innovative promotions like the bakkie competition, wherein which they can engage and interact with customers.
