Lombaard Street; Woman shot through hand

Moela said that officers found two projectiles in the complex, but no cartridges outside the dwelling.

LYDENBURG – SAPS officers responded to a shooting incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a complex in Lombaard Street.
According to Capt Alfred Moela, communications spokesman for Lydenburg SAPS, officers found Vusani Khomola in a shocked state, sitting in her living room with blood dripping from her arm.
“Khomola was too traumatised to explain to officers what had happened, but according to a neighbour, she apparently heard a racket outside her complex house. She went to investigate and peeped through the window. One shot was apparently fired which hit her in the hand. She then ran down the corridor to the living room when two other shots followed outside the dwelling.”
Moela said that officers found two projectiles in the complex, but no cartridges outside the dwelling. “There was apparently blood all over the house. She was taken to Lydenburg Hospital for treatment, and was transferred to MediClinic in Mbombela.”
He said that the SAPS is still investigating the incident and cannot speculate on the motive as yet.
“Residents are urged to never leave their houses at night for any reason. Call the SAPS or your neighbourhood watch immediately. Residents should also learn their addresses as it is evident that some cannot explain in what street or area they reside. Never confront suspects and always treat and see them as dangerous or armed.”
